Building My Dreams
As a little girl, a needle and thread was put in my hands and my love affair with creating things with fiber began! We lived on a little acreage and I learned about sheep and how they produced their wool. At 17 I was able to put together a “Spinner’s Flock” and learned about the varied wool breeds. I taught myself spinning techniques traditionally possible and studied weaving at Pacific Basin Textiles in Berkeley, Ca.
After proposing my major to UC Chico I graduated with a degree in Clothing and Textile Design. There I learned flat pattern making, draping, and explored sculptural weaving with wire and a variety of art techniques. In the 1980’s I worked for Sunset Designs, a stitchery company and helped to create their weaving line. I began exploring other fiber avenues over the next several decades and my love for textiles & sharing it have exploded. I welcome new ideas and love seeing historical works as well as incorporating new ideas and techniques to what I have learned. It is a wonderful Journey.
